(1)
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O Prophet!
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
O Prophet!
ٱتَّقِ
Fear
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُطِعِ
obey
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ
and the hypocrites
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
كَانَ
is
عَلِيمًا
All-Knower
حَكِيمًا
All-Wise
(2)
وَٱتَّبِعْ
And follow
مَا
what
يُوحَىٰٓ
is inspired
إِلَيْكَ
to you
مِن
from
رَّبِّكَ
your Lord
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
كَانَ
is
بِمَا
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do
خَبِيرًا
All-Aware
(3)
وَتَوَكَّلْ
And put your trust
عَلَى
in
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَكَفَىٰ
And Allah is sufficient
بِٱللَّهِ
And Allah is sufficient
وَكِيلًا
(as) Disposer of affairs
(4)
مَّا
Not
جَعَلَ
Allah (has) made
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (has) made
لِرَجُلٍ
for any man
مِّن
[of]
قَلْبَيْنِ
two hearts
فِى
in
جَوْفِهِۦ
his interior
وَمَا
And not
جَعَلَ
He (has) made
أَزْوَٰجَكُمُ
your wives
ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى
whom
تُظَٰهِرُونَ
you declare unlawful
مِنْهُنَّ
[of them]
أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ
(as) your mothers
وَمَا
And not
جَعَلَ
He has made
أَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ
your adopted sons
أَبْنَآءَكُمْ
your sons
ذَٰلِكُمْ
That
قَوْلُكُم
(is) your saying
بِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ
by your mouths
وَٱللَّهُ
but Allah
يَقُولُ
says
ٱلْحَقَّ
the truth
وَهُوَ
and He
يَهْدِى
guides
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
(to) the Way
(5)
ٱدْعُوهُمْ
Call them
لِءَابَآئِهِمْ
by their fathers
هُوَ
it
أَقْسَطُ
(is) more just
عِندَ
near
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
فَإِن
But if
لَّمْ
not
تَعْلَمُوٓا۟
you know
ءَابَآءَهُمْ
their fathers
فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ
then (they are) your brothers
فِى
in
ٱلدِّينِ
[the] religion
وَمَوَٰلِيكُمْ
and your friends
وَلَيْسَ
But not is
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you
جُنَاحٌ
any blame
فِيمَآ
in what
أَخْطَأْتُم
you made a mistake
بِهِۦ
in it
وَلَٰكِن
but
مَّا
what
تَعَمَّدَتْ
intended
قُلُوبُكُمْ
your hearts
وَكَانَ
And Allah
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah
غَفُورًا
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمًا
Most Merciful
(6)
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
The Prophet
أَوْلَىٰ
(is) closer
بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
to the believers
مِنْ
than
أَنفُسِهِمْ
their own selves
وَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓ
and his wives
أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ
(are) their mothers
وَأُو۟لُوا۟
And possessors
ٱلْأَرْحَامِ
(of) relationships
بَعْضُهُمْ
some of them
أَوْلَىٰ
(are) closer
بِبَعْضٍ
to another
فِى
in
كِتَٰبِ
(the) Decree
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
مِنَ
than
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers
وَٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ
and the emigrants
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
تَفْعَلُوٓا۟
you do
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أَوْلِيَآئِكُم
your friends
مَّعْرُوفًا
a kindness
كَانَ
That is
ذَٰلِكَ
That is
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book
مَسْطُورًا
written
(7)
وَإِذْ
And when
أَخَذْنَا
We took
مِنَ
from
ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ
the Prophets
مِيثَٰقَهُمْ
their Covenant
وَمِنكَ
and from you
وَمِن
and from
نُّوحٍ
Nuh
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
and Ibrahim
وَمُوسَىٰ
and Musa
وَعِيسَى
and Isa
ٱبْنِ
son
مَرْيَمَ
(of) Maryam
وَأَخَذْنَا
And We took
مِنْهُم
from them
مِّيثَٰقًا
a covenant
غَلِيظًا
strong
(8)
لِّيَسْـَٔلَ
That He may ask
ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
the truthful
عَن
about
صِدْقِهِمْ
their truth
وَأَعَدَّ
And He has prepared
لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
for the disbelievers
عَذَابًا
a punishment
أَلِيمًا
painful
(9)
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe!
ٱذْكُرُوا۟
Remember
نِعْمَةَ
(the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you
إِذْ
when
جَآءَتْكُمْ
came to you
جُنُودٌ
(the) hosts
فَأَرْسَلْنَا
and We sent
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
رِيحًا
a wind
وَجُنُودًا
and hosts
لَّمْ
not
تَرَوْهَا
you (could) see them
وَكَانَ
And Allah is
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah is
بِمَا
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do
بَصِيرًا
All-Seer
(10)
إِذْ
When
جَآءُوكُم
they came upon you
مِّن
from
فَوْقِكُمْ
above you
وَمِنْ
and from
أَسْفَلَ
below
مِنكُمْ
you
وَإِذْ
and when
زَاغَتِ
grew wild
ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ
the eyes
وَبَلَغَتِ
and reached
ٱلْقُلُوبُ
the hearts
ٱلْحَنَاجِرَ
the throats
وَتَظُنُّونَ
and you assumed
بِٱللَّهِ
about Allah
ٱلظُّنُونَا۠
the assumptions
(11)
هُنَالِكَ
There -
ٱبْتُلِىَ
were tried
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
the believers
وَزُلْزِلُوا۟
and shaken
زِلْزَالًا
(with a) shake
شَدِيدًا
severe
(12)
وَإِذْ
And when
يَقُولُ
said
ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ
the hypocrites
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those
فِى
in
قُلُوبِهِم
their hearts
مَّرَضٌ
(was) a disease
مَّا
"Not
وَعَدَنَا
Allah promised us
ٱللَّهُ
Allah promised us
وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ
and His messenger
إِلَّا
except
غُرُورًا
delusion"
(13)
وَإِذْ
And when
قَالَت
said
طَّآئِفَةٌ
a party
مِّنْهُمْ
of them
يَٰٓأَهْلَ
"O People
يَثْرِبَ
(of) Yathrib!
لَا
No
مُقَامَ
stand
لَكُمْ
for you
فَٱرْجِعُوا۟
so return"
وَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُ
And asked permission
فَرِيقٌ
a group
مِّنْهُمُ
of them
ٱلنَّبِىَّ
(from) the Prophet
يَقُولُونَ
saying
إِنَّ
"Indeed
بُيُوتَنَا
our houses
عَوْرَةٌ
(are) exposed"
وَمَا
and not
هِىَ
they
بِعَوْرَةٍ
(were) exposed
إِن
Not
يُرِيدُونَ
they wished
إِلَّا
but
فِرَارًا
to flee
(14)
وَلَوْ
And if
دُخِلَتْ
had been entered
عَلَيْهِم
upon them
مِّنْ
from
أَقْطَارِهَا
all its sides
ثُمَّ
then
سُئِلُوا۟
they had been asked
ٱلْفِتْنَةَ
the treachery
لَءَاتَوْهَا
they (would) have certainly done it
وَمَا
and not
تَلَبَّثُوا۟
they (would) have hesitated
بِهَآ
over it
إِلَّا
except
يَسِيرًا
a little
(15)
وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
كَانُوا۟
they had
عَٰهَدُوا۟
promised
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مِن
before
قَبْلُ
before
لَا
not
يُوَلُّونَ
they would turn
ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ
their backs
وَكَانَ
And is
عَهْدُ
(the) promise
ٱللَّهِ
(to) Allah
مَسْـُٔولًا
to be questioned
(16)
قُل
Say
لَّن
"Never
يَنفَعَكُمُ
will benefit you
ٱلْفِرَارُ
the fleeing
إِن
if
فَرَرْتُم
you flee
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْمَوْتِ
death
أَوِ
or
ٱلْقَتْلِ
killing
وَإِذًا
and then
لَّا
not
تُمَتَّعُونَ
you will be allowed to enjoy
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًا
a little"
(17)
قُلْ
Say
مَن
"Who
ذَا
(is) it that
ٱلَّذِى
(is) it that
يَعْصِمُكُم
(can) protect you
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
إِنْ
If
أَرَادَ
He intends
بِكُمْ
for you
سُوٓءًا
any harm
أَوْ
or
أَرَادَ
He intends
بِكُمْ
for you
رَحْمَةً
a mercy?"
وَلَا
And not
يَجِدُونَ
they will find
لَهُم
for them
مِّن
besides
دُونِ
besides
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَلِيًّا
any protector
وَلَا
and not
نَصِيرًا
any helper
(18)
قَدْ
Verily
يَعْلَمُ
Allah knows
ٱللَّهُ
Allah knows
ٱلْمُعَوِّقِينَ
those who hinder
مِنكُمْ
among you
وَٱلْقَآئِلِينَ
and those who say
لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ
to their brothers
هَلُمَّ
"Come
إِلَيْنَا
to us"
وَلَا
and not
يَأْتُونَ
they come
ٱلْبَأْسَ
(to) the battle
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًا
a few
(19)
أَشِحَّةً
Miserly
عَلَيْكُمْ
towards you
فَإِذَا
But when
جَآءَ
comes
ٱلْخَوْفُ
the fear
رَأَيْتَهُمْ
you see them
يَنظُرُونَ
looking
إِلَيْكَ
at you
تَدُورُ
revolving
أَعْيُنُهُمْ
their eyes
كَٱلَّذِى
like one who
يُغْشَىٰ
faints
عَلَيْهِ
faints
مِنَ
from
ٱلْمَوْتِ
[the] death
فَإِذَا
But when
ذَهَبَ
departs
ٱلْخَوْفُ
the fear
سَلَقُوكُم
they smite you
بِأَلْسِنَةٍ
with tongues
حِدَادٍ
sharp
أَشِحَّةً
miserly
عَلَى
towards
ٱلْخَيْرِ
the good
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those
لَمْ
not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
they have believed
فَأَحْبَطَ
so Allah made worthless
ٱللَّهُ
so Allah made worthless
أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
their deeds
وَكَانَ
And is
ذَٰلِكَ
that
عَلَى
for
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
يَسِيرًا
easy
(20)
يَحْسَبُونَ
They think
ٱلْأَحْزَابَ
the confederates
لَمْ
(have) not
يَذْهَبُوا۟
withdrawn
وَإِن
And if
يَأْتِ
(should) come
ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
the confederates
يَوَدُّوا۟
they would wish
لَوْ
if
أَنَّهُم
that they (were)
بَادُونَ
living in (the) desert
فِى
among
ٱلْأَعْرَابِ
the Bedouins
يَسْـَٔلُونَ
asking
عَنْ
about
أَنۢبَآئِكُمْ
your news
وَلَوْ
And if
كَانُوا۟
they were
فِيكُم
among you
مَّا
not
قَٰتَلُوٓا۟
they would fight
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًا
a little
